SASSA War Veterans Grant
The War Veterans Grant provides financial assistance to South Africans who served in World War I, World War II, or the Korean War and are now in need of social assistance.

Important Note
The War Veterans Grant is the highest-paying SASSA grant at R2,420 per month. Proof of military service is required, and applicants must have served in one of the qualifying wars.
Qualifying Military Service
To qualify for the War Veterans Grant, you must have served in one of the following conflicts:
World War I
1914 - 1918
World War II
1939 - 1945
Korean War
1950 - 1953
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the War Veterans Grant, you must meet the following criteria:
Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
Be 60 years of age or older (or have a disability if under 60)
Have fought in World War I, World War II, or the Korean War
Not be cared for in a state institution
Not receive any other social grant for yourself
Pass the means test (income and asset assessment)
Required Documents
South African ID document (green barcoded ID or Smart ID card)
Proof of military service (discharge certificate, military records)
Proof of residence (utility bill, lease agreement, or affidavit)
Proof of income (if applicable)
Bank account details (for payment)
Medical report (if claiming due to disability)
