The Child Support Grant (CSG) provides financial assistance to primary caregivers of children under 18 years to help with the costs of raising a child.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Child Support Grant, you must meet the following criteria:

Be the primary caregiver of the child (not necessarily the biological parent)
Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
The child must be under 18 years of age
The child must be a South African citizen
Both you and the child must live in South Africa
You must not earn more than the income threshold
The child must not be cared for in a state institution

Required Documents

When applying for the Child Support Grant, you will need to provide the following documents:

Your South African ID document (green barcoded ID or Smart ID card)
Child's birth certificate or ID document
Proof of residence (utility bill, lease agreement, or affidavit)
Proof of income (if employed)
Bank account details (for payment)
School attendance confirmation (for children 7-18 years)
