Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Grant-in-Aid, you must meet the following criteria:

Already be receiving the Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, or War Veterans Grant
Require full-time attendance by another person due to physical or mental disability
Not be cared for in a state institution
Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
Submit medical evidence confirming the need for full-time care

Required Documents

South African ID document (green barcoded ID or Smart ID card)
Proof that you are already receiving a qualifying grant
Medical report confirming the need for full-time attendance
Proof of residence (utility bill, lease agreement, or affidavit)
Bank account details (for payment)

Payment Information

The Grant-in-Aid is paid together with your primary grant on the same payment date. Payment follows the schedule of your primary grant:

Older Persons / War Veterans

Paid on the first payment date of each month (Older Persons Grant day)

Disability Grant Recipients

Paid on the second payment date of each month (Disability Grant day)
